Full Description
This course satisfies the requirements of NFPA 1020: Standard for Fire and Emergency Services Instructor, Fire Officer, and Emergency Medical Services Officer Professional Qualifications chapter 12, 2025 edition "Fire Officer IV". This comprehensive course is designed to provide senior officers and others in key leadership roles with an understanding of advanced fire service management and administrative skills as well as the ability to conduct research, analyze data, and develop solutions to complex issues. The Mississippi Executive Fire Officer program spans one year and includes four sessions conducted at the Academy. All candidates must complete an Applied Research Project (ARP) that relates to their organization before attending the last session of the course. Completion of the ARP is a prerequisite for participating in the last course session and a requirement for graduation. Graduates will receive state credentials and recognition as a Mississippi Executive Fire Officer, along with certification for Fire Officer Level IV.

Reporting Instructions
Students are asked to wear fire department uniforms while attending upper-level classes. No casual attire.
This program is writing and time sensitive. Basic writing skills are necessary to complete this course. As stated in the NFPA standard, students must be able to analyze data and communicate both orally and in writing. Students will be required to write a college paper while attending this class. ALL APPLICATION DOCUMENTS MUST BE SUBMITTED BY FEBRUARY 28 IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THE MEFO CLASS.
